Keagan LeJeune is Professor of Folklore and English at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He has written two nonfictions books, Always for the Underdog: Leather Britches Smith and the Grabow War (University of North Texas Press, 2010) and Legendary Louisiana Outlaws: The Villains and Heroes of Folk Justice (LSU Press, 2016), which won the 2016 Brian McConnell Book Award presented by the International Society for Contemporary Legend Research. He holds a M.F.A. in creative writing from McNeese State University. His poems have appeared in several journals. This is his first story.
